Ensembles

Concert Choir

Our entry level ensemble of 9th-12th graders starting out in their choral and musical journey. There is no audition required to enter this ensemble. All Freshman will be in this ensemble.

Officers include:
Concert Choir Manager - takes attendance, runs warm-up exercises, represents the whole of the ensemble; must be a returning 10th-12th grader. If you're interested, reach out to Ms. Murray for an application in May!
Class Representatives - meets regularly with Ms. Murray to discuss ensemble affairs and performances; If you're interested, stay tuned for annual ensemble elections!

Treble Choir

Intermediate choral ensemble of treble voice singers; 10th-12th graders enroll by audition process!

Officers include:

Treble Choir Manager - takes attendance, runs warm-up exercises, represents the whole of the ensemble; must be a returning 10th-12th grader. If you're interested, reach out to Ms. Murray for an application in May!

Chorale

Advanced mixed choral ensemble of SATB singers; 10th-12th graders enroll by audition process!

Officers include:
Chorale Manager - takes attendance, runs warm-up exercises, represents the whole of the ensemble; must be a returning 11th-12th grader. The Chorale Manager also serves as the Music Director of the after school ensemble, Celestial. If you're interested, reach out to Ms. Murray for an application in May!
Chorale Assistant Manager - takes attendance in Manager's absence, runs warm-up exercises, handles social media; must be a returning 11th-12th grader. The Chorale Assistant Manager also serves as the Assistant Music Director of the after school ensemble, Celestial. If you're interested, reach out to Ms. Murray for an application in May

Celestial

Advanced student-run chamber singers ensemble that meets after school; 10th-12th graders enroll by audition process! Sings a variety of repertoire per discretion of Music Director, Assistant Music Director, and Ms. Murray.

Officers include:
Music Director - also serves as Chorale Manager (Look under"Chorale" for more information)
Assistant Music Director - also serves as Chorale Assistant Manager (Look under"Chorale" for more information)

Audition

Audition materials for annual choral auditions include:
- 8 bar sight-singing excerpt
- A prepared excerpt of a choral piece of repertoire sent to student in the preceding school year.
- A 2 minute cut of a song of the students choice. Can be pulled from any genre or style of singing.

Travel

Below are descriptions for our trips, opportunities for fundraising, and expected expenses. Please Contact Ms.Murray about requests for financial aid.

Where we Go

We strive to allow trips that foster musical growth. We compete in competitions in nearby amusement parks, such as Hershey and Dorney. We also take a trip to Disney every 4 years. As opportunities arise, more opportunities for travel may become available, past trips have included Virginia Beach and Ohio.

Grading Policy

40% Concert Attendance - mandatory attendance for all scheduled performances, excused absences must be communicated in advance

30% Weekly Assessment - students will have weekly Canvas/Schoology/etc. Assessments due on Friday night that could pertain to sight reading, analysis of a piece we’re working on in class, short composition, etc.

30% In-Class Participation/Attendance - students show up prepared with music, pencil, and follow directions/participate with daily lessons. Students attend rehearsals, excused absences will not impact grade
